This is a great place for beginner sports rock climbers. All routes on the cliff have metal anchors. All you need is rope, carabiners, climbing shoes, chalk, a harness, and a partner. There's is a gate at the entance. The lock combo is in the mountaineering project website. There is no fee and not many people come here.
Gates open between 7 or 9 a.m. closes before dusk. This place has been here way before the fences but thanks to enthusiasts it is drawing in recognition and attention from others. It is rugged and steep river terrain, the Cumberland River itself is reason enough to visit this water front view. It is a great attraction to add to the outdoor sportsmans list....Please pick up any trash, it is beautiful and sacred Southern Ground.
Great place to sport climb. Make sure you are out by dark or they will close the gate. Most of the routes are labeled with their name and grade, but the labels can be hard to see (small metal plaques). Overlooks the Cumberland, and on a hot day you could probably make your way down to the river to cool off.
Beautiful area. Not for casual hikers. Dangerous. Only experienced climbers with safety gear should be here.
its been a long time since ive be here. the gate code is no longer the one provided on the web page. i would like to see this place visted more frequently. it is a very nice climing spot.
