My child attended this school for two years, and about the only thing he learned was that "the Bible says 'thou shalt not!'" When we left TCS, my son was confused about what his name was, and couldn't even write it legibly. (My child goes by his middle name, and they refused to use it.) So much for 'academic achievement.' Their focus was religious to a fault, with a legalistic perspective. They were trying to teach 3 year olds to memorize scripture verses that were a paragraph long, and a different one each week, instead of simple tenants of faith like "God is love." (1 John 4:8)

TCS is very strict in regards to the dress code (make sure your daughter's not wearing nail polish that she put on over the weekend! And don't think you can send your child to school in a regular pair of shoes while you take a day to find the one pair of black dress shoes that they lost over the weekend.) This is a "KJ version only" church and school... but don't worry, they claim not to proselytize. (Yeah... right.) And please don't think that they will be accepting of corporal discipline just because it's a "Christian" school. The pastor's wife works closely with CPS, and she's not hesitant to notify them if she even suspects that you're disciplining your child in a way that she can't or doesn't approve of. (In short: If the faculty isn't allowed to swat your child on the butt, than apparently neither should you.)

The academic teaching was quite advanced for the age group without using a method that would stimulate a child's interest or creativity, so the child tends to get lost in a mountain of paperwork. (Oh, paperwork, and more paperwork... and don't forget about homework - yes, even for 3-year-olds.)

We started attending TCS this past year. My fourth grader and third grader have loved every second of it. My third grader who was once the little girl who couldn't muster the courage to say hello in public situations stood in front of the entire school and its families to recite a speech from memory. I couldn't believe it! The teachers are so loving and attentive, their standardized test scores are phenomenal and most importantly Jesus is spoken of, taught, worshipped, and praised there daily. I love Tabernacle!

Whether the area of contention is in regards to parenting style, political views, or simply a misplaced pair of sneakers, the Tabernacle Christian School faculty has NO TOLERANCE. And the educational advancement that my child achieved during the two years he attended was nearly non-existent.

My child attended this school in the Pre K department. At first look the school seemed organized but as the semester started, the administration for the school got worst. First they requested a huge list of school supplies for the school year, at the beginning of the school year, which was fine with me. But then they requested the supplies again at the end of the semester. I was like there was no way that my child had used five reams of paper. It was like the school wanted the parents to buy the school supplies for the office as well. Next problem was the office. The office staff is very disorganized. There is zero privacy when discussing financial matters in the office. The staff is also ill trained on how to handle simple financial matters such as taking payments without making mistakes. The principal of the school is rude and disrespects parents. I once spoke to her about an issue with my child and she stated she did not not care how I feel. In addition, this school is always begging for money claiming that they are building a school, however there is zero progress with it. I would never recommend anyone to attend this school mainly because of the administration. My child's teacher is amazing, but it is overshadowed by the negative aspect of the administration. If I could give this organization zero stars I would, but google won't let me.
