Call 5 times, ask the exact same question, and I swear you'll get 5 different answers. Point it out, and they'll throw their peers under the bus, saying they don't know why the agents you spoke to previously felt the need to make stuff up, but you're being told the truth this time. If Social Security makes a mistake, your benefits will be help up for months, while you're told repeatedly it's "processing" and you'll be receiving the benefits you're entitled to "any time now". You'll be treated as unintelligent and unclear, as agents tell you what you're telling them to do, which actually has nothing to do with what you're talking about, and is, at times, the exact opposite of what you've clearly stated you're hoping to achieve or find out. It is appalling that a government office is run in this manner, especially one that is responsible for working with people who are disabled, and who have, in a lot of cases, had to fight long legal battles just to get the benefits they should've been entitled to the minute a physician told them they were unable to continue working.
It was slow moving at first, but then they opened up more windows. My husband and I did not have an appointment - we were in and out of the building in 30 minutes. The clerk was very friendly and helpful.
It's so frustrating being disabled and having to deal with The Social Security Administration. I've been reporting my husband's wages for years only to find out that they haven't been verified in over a year which affects my benefits. I call and leave messages and I never get a return call. When I try to get help from another representative they don't want to deal with the issues I'm trying to address and rush me off the phone. I just want to be able to get in touch with my claims representative and get this whole mess resolved but it's impossible.
