witnessed a man kicking his dog across a yard and hitting it. called the police and they contacted animal control WHO NEVER CAME. poor dog will be beat to death one day because of this place. disgusting.
Saw a little dog thrown from a car. Called this emergency after hours number. No help at all. They said they could only call officer for emergencies. Isn't that an emergency? System is screwed up. I feel sorry for all the animals in Clarksville that truly need help. I hope someone looks at the policies and changes a few things. The operator that answered was very ignorant. Made me feel like I was bothering her! Very disappointing experience. That's honestly probably why those people threw the dog from the car....frustrated cause there's no help here in Clarksville to properly give up your dog after 3pm!!!
If you say this place is great please take a second look. It is disgusting, there is feces in every cage and the dogs get taken out maybe once or twice a day. I've also had friends to adopt and then find out from a vet that the animal is either sick or going to die. Their staff is rude and would rather sit on their asses than get up to assist you. Between them and precious friends it makes me hate clarksville.
I don't usually have negative comments about shelters, but i guess there is a first time for everything. My dog was taken out of my fenced in yard and brought to the shelter where she contracted the Parvo Virus. Their reasoning for taken my dog was insufficient water given to dog, my door was open and my dogs come in and out as they please. She was taken to shelter, got parvo, and then they treated it. they charged me 600 dollars before i could her back, me not being able to pay that i couldn't get her.
Extremely nice and helpful staff but place smells rough! It's not easily seen of the road, it's across a cemetery on an off road. They also have to make a copy of your license since it's a federal business. Very small lobby.
